Orientation in our Respective School

    

Having an orientation in school where we assign is important because this will serve us a guide for us  to know the rules and regulations of the school and other policies that this school have. As an observer it is important to have an orientation because this will help and remind us to know the Do's and Don'ts that we need to follow. Being an observer help us to become an effective teacher someday because during observation i learned a lot of things by the help of my Resource teacher like different strategies and techniques in teaching that i can apply someday to my students and it give us an idea on how to communicate well to our students. Also being an observer you should give and show respect to the people were you assign. Orientation reminded us about our responsibilities as an observer.

      Elements of Teaching




Everyone of us can be a Teacher but not all of us can be an effective teacher to our students. Being an effective teacher is a long process you need to practice and develop your skills to become an Effective teacher someday. There are Six Elements of Effective Teaching these are : Content Knowledge, Quality of instruction, Teaching climate, Classroom Management, Teacher's Belief and Professional Behavior.




Content Knowledge- This is when teacher have a mastery on their own subject that they teach and a deep knowledge on their subject area.
Quality of Instruction- This teacher is good in using effective Questioning and useful assessment to the students.
Teaching Climate-  to have a good teaching climate a teacher and student should have a good relationship to each other and respect is important in the class.
Teacher beliefs- There are some reasons why teachers adopt particular practices and purpose that they have for their student.
Professional Behaviors- Teacher must develop professional skills and practice.The teacher must deal with the students, parents and their colleagues professionally.

   Teachers and also Pre-service Teachers must have these characteristics which is the 6 elements of an Effective Teaching because this will guide you the right way to become a good and an effective teacher someday. We should give IMPACT to our students because there success is also the success of the teacher.

Teaching as an art demonstrate the way the teacher use creative ways to present the material fun and interesting to the students. As a teacher we should be innovative and creative in teaching like giving enjoyable games, role plays, hands on activities even movies that are related to our lesson because this will lead us to become more effective teacher. Students will not get bored instead they are excited and enjoying your subject. We should not only share knowledge to our students they should feel that learning is enjoyable.In this way we catch the attention of our students easily and they will become active in learning. As a teacher this is the way we experiment different strategies and techniques in teaching so that we will know on what strategy they are most
active in learning.

Teaching Moral Values and Good Ethics to our students are very important. As a teacher we should teach our student to become a good person and do things that is always right. Teacher serve as  role model to their students because they always see that we are a perfect person. We know the right from wrong, we value the things around us and they have a high expectation to us. We should follow the code of ethics so that we will be guided on the proper way of conduct. Teaching is not only a profession it is more on vocation. We stand as a second parent to our students we are the one who mold them to become a good individual. As a teacher we must implement the values education to our student like good manners and other proper way of conduct.Teachers doesn't only teach the concept of academics but also on how to value our own lives.

   My Resource Teacher's Elements of Teaching  (What is lacking or missing?)





Based on my observation, The five elements of Teaching are present in my two Resource teacher except one and that is the quality of Instruction. Because this teachers have a mastery of subject matter and make sure that their students understand the lesson clearly and can apply what was taught to them. Also these Teachers have a good relationship with their students because as I observed to them they respect each other.They are also good in terms of classroom management they believe that learning environment is important and an organized classroom has a big impact on the learning of the students.They also have their own beliefs and experiences that can share to their students and Professional behaviors they deals with their students, co teachers and parents professionally for them respect and confidentiality is important. These two Resource teacher are good but they need to become more flexible in using different strategies that will help their student clearly understand the lesson. Every teacher must skilled in adapting students needs and make sure that there teaching instruction should be fit in there students.  For me, The elements of Effective teaching is like a puzzle piece because even if there is one piece that is missing you cannot become an effective teacher because that 5 elements are important to us teachers we must practice this characteristics to become an effective teacher someday.

First Reflection

What kind of Philosophy does your Resource teacher have?

  I already had my first observation at Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School. I already met my two resource teacher and for me they have quite the same Educational philosophy but different in their teaching styles. Every teacher has their own Educational philosophy that they follow throughout their teaching career and their main goal is for the learning and development of every student. My first Resource teacher is a combination of Progressivists and Essentialists As I observe the way she teach her main goal is to give knowledge to her student and make sure that they understand the lesson. Sometimes she is a learner centered because she always asked her student to participate in the lesson and there is always an activity for her students to learn independently. I like the way she understand her students. She is the kind of teacher who give considerations to her students and a teacher who is kind too. My second Resource teacher is a Progressivists she is a learner center approach and always encourage her students to become active in her class. I like the way she teach and how she deliver the lesson easily and clearly so that her students will understand it. Sometimes she give jokes that make her students to be active in the discussion and make learning enjoyable. I admire her for being an industrious teacher and always give her best in teaching that makes learning interesting.

   We all have different Educational philosophy and our goal is for the learning and development of every student. We want to enhance their potentials and become prepared for their future because the success of the student is also success of the teacher.

DISCIPLINE AND PROCEDURE

In Part 3 of Dr. Harry Wong, He talked about the differences of  Discipline and Procedures inside the Classroom. He also said that An Effective Teacher are more on Managing the class than Disciplining the class. Moreover, He mentioned that the student should know their Teachers want and dislike just like being late, absent and other behavior of the student that the teacher will do not like. I Agree with Dr.Harry Wong that the number one problem in the classroom is not discipline but it is the lack of procedures and routines. I believe that procedure and routines make the students become more active in learning. As a teacher we should help our students to do things and discover their own skills. Also we must be positive in dealing in our student because this will encourage them to always think positive and believe that they will become successful in the future.

THE FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL

In Part 2 of  Dr. Harry Wong, He said that Classroom Management is the key to Success.
I Agree with this because if you have a good classroom management for sure you will have an organized classroom environment that is conducive to learning. In this video I learned that on the first day of school the teacher must give his/her rules and regulations inside the classroom so that the students will know the Do's and Don'ts that they need to follow. I also believe in this statement that your success during the school year will be determined by what you do on the first day of school.
As a teacher i need to remember and understand that every student has a unique personality, strength and weaknesses. In the future i will give my best to my future students to be an effective teacher to them.

 

Building Success through Learning

       Everyone of us deserve to have an education and an equal opportunities to learn.Two countries are presented in the video and for me they are both good in their Educational system. First Finland, In this country they let their students to discover their own skills and also they encourage the learners to have a passion in their learning process. In this educational system they focus on the learner centered approach in evaluating the student's performance and Second In Singapore, We must inspired by the teachers in this country because they let their students to use technology such as laptops and cellphones for their learning. Through this students enhance their critical thinking skills and become an independent learner.

    In our country, Philippines we need to achieve and improve more on the facilities and other materials that need in the learning progress of our students. Also the strategy in teaching because this will help the students to become more prepared in the future. It's not too late to improve our own educational system we must give our best for our students and learn from the success of other country to get some strategy in building our own success.
 


     

Be a positive Teacher

      Teaching is not only a proffesion it is more on vocassion.   
 Any person can be a teacher to anyone but not all of them can be an effective teacher. An effective teacher does not simply teach knowledge to her students but also it involves changing the life of every student because teaching it also about touching the lives of the learners. An effective teacher must help and guide students to accomplish their goals and also cultivate their talents and skills.


      The characteristics of an efffective teacher based on the video of Harry Wong are: First, The teacher should be good in the classroom management because an effective classroom creates a positive learning to the students and also student's in effectively  managed classroom know and follow the rules and regulations of the teacher. Second, The teacher designs lesson to reach mastery. to be an effective teacher you should  be a lifelong learner and never satisfied with the knowledge and skills that you have Instead, you continually develop as practitioners in studying your content areas and enhance your skills and strategy in classroom. And Lastly, An effective teacher should have a positive expectations that students will be successful. A teacher mold her student's behaviour ,skills and knowledge.Everything that the teacher says to her students has a great impact to them. As a teacher you need to encourage your students to study well and perform better in class so that at the end of the day they will realize how important Education is.

              

             

               

A TEACHER TO BE...


My teaching journey at first it is not interesting and it never came to my mind before that i will be a teacher someday.

My greatest influence to me as a teacher is my Mother, She is not only a loving Mom but also she is a wonder teacher for me. I admire her for being a strong and a true educator she always motivate her students to study well and influences them to do good things in their lives. I have to admit that she still influences my teaching choices and one of the main reason I've come to realize that teaching is more than a profession.  

As an educ student I already experienced field study, demo teaching and also writing a  lesson plan. Based on this experiences I learned that its not really easy to become a teacher you need to sacrifice to your students in giving  knowledge to them.

When I was in  second year  that was the time i realized that teaching is my passion and also a calling from God. It also the moment i realize that in order to become a teacher i primarily need to be a good learner and a listener too. I feel that as a teacher i need to understand and see that every students as individuals they all have unique personalities, strength and needs. 

In the future, I want to see myself educating students and I believe in the saying by Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world"
